Want to get in on the ground floor of a project and support local talent? We think you miss us in the summer as much as we miss you. We are launching a brand-new program for our remarkable Boise audience members and artists…

Our new LOCALS ONLY Summer Series features Boise playwrights, writers, actors, and musicians performing workshops and road testing material on our MainStage and in the Ghost Light Pub. As a contemporary theater and an innovator, BCT believes in nurturing artists in the earliest stages of their process by providing a space for experimentation and research to produce the next great album, play, or short story. This new series will feature many works currently in development. We are thrilled to support these bold stories by brilliant minds, nurtured in a safe space where the art can grow and flourish. These artists are ready for an audience to help them shape their work as it moves from the idea stage to our MainStage. Be a part of something meaningful for Boise and beyond! Prices vary, starting at $10. Look at our stellar lineup of locals this summer:
Tickets start at $10 for each event. Special Events may be more (all prices listed on next screen). Acts in the Ghost Light Pub are limited to 50 seats, so grab your tickets early! All events are General Admission, no assigned seats.

Amanda Turner is an award-winning screenwriter, playwright, and the New York Times bestselling author of many books, including How to Be Awkward and This Little Piggy Went to the Liquor Store. She is also active in the local theater community, most recently as Mrs. White in Clue at Watson’s Mystery Cafe, Fairy June in Southern Fried Funeral at Eagle Theatre Company, and as the playwright of First Impressions at Will Act 4 Food, winning the Audience Choice Award. Find her on Substack and Instagram at @WriterBakerSoldierSpy and at AmandaTurner.com.
Dan Costello is a singer/songwriter, guitarist and prime staple of the remote but robust music scene in Boise, Idaho, USA. Armed at an early age with a radio and a baritone ukulele, his love for music led him to a classical guitar degree from Boise State, and a full-time professional music career now spanning over 15 years as a performer, writer/arranger, educator and simultaneous rabble-rouser/peacemaker in his local community.
While “Costello” is not all that common of a surname, it is shared by TWO established musicians named Dan Costello — practically mirror images of each other in their respective music circles (one in Boise, the other in NYC). The two met in 2014 at the famed Sidewalk Cafe in Manhattan and continue to share a bond beyond just what’s in a name. Be sure to check which Dan Costello you’re tuning into here and elsewhere (and check out the other one as well!). HearCostello.com

Samantha Silva is an author, playwright, and screenwriter based in Idaho. She’s sold film projects to Paramount, Universal, and New Line Cinema. Her novels include Mr. Dickens and His Carol and Love and Fury: A Novel of Mary Wollstonecraft. Her essays and short fiction appear in Literary Hub, One Story, and the New York Times. She adapted Mr. Dickens and His Carol for the stage in a commission for Seattle Repertory Theater. The play premiered in 2022.

A reading of the play adaptation of her novel Love and Fury by Samantha Silva (A stage adaptation based on her novel)
August 1797. Nothing prepares midwife Parthenia Blenkinsop for the experience that unfolds when she arrives at Mary Wollstonecraft’s door. Over eleven harrowing days, as “Mrs. B” fights for the survival of both mother and child, Wollstonecraft recounts the life she dared to live amid the impossible constraints and prejudices of the late 18th century, rejecting the tyranny of men and marriage, and risking everything to demand equality for herself and all women.

- 7:30-8 PM: Calvin Pineda
- 8:15-10 PM: Hillfolk Noir
Meet Hillfolk Noir – Grooving. Raucous. Genre-bending. And always a ton of fun. Built on more than 15 years of tradition, today’s Hillfolk takes their acoustic guitar, double bass, and “anything you can find at a hardware store” sound and integrates driving drums and an electrified sound, kicking down limitations to create a vibe that goes beyond their Americana “junkerdash” roots. Want to call it bluegrass’s trouble-making cousin? Fine by us. A bit of string-band blues? Sure ‘nuff. A concoction of electrified rockin’ soulful folksy witchcraft mayhem? Now you’re talking, mama.
Calvin Pineda is a nonbinary antifolk singer from Boise, Idaho, with an eye towards the whimsical, depressive, spiritual, and pedantic. They perform solo, and with their bands The Antacids and “PATRICIA” — making music for the guitar, the accordion, and the very confused.
