A.C.T. at BCT
The Academy for Contemporary Theater is BCT’s newest offering. Of course, we still have our gold standard Theater Lab programs, but we wanted to add more opportunities to bring the community into our home. Like adult acting classes. And even some classes for our younger artists. Come A.C.T. at BCT!
Cancellations are subject to a $50 cancellation fee.

Get a glimpse behind the scenes of each of this season’s MainStage shows. The symposium will meet for two hours before the opening of the show to discuss the process of the play’s creation, production history, critical reception, and the rehearsal and design process involved in mounting it at BCT. If schedule allows, we may be joined by members of the creative team and production staff. After the closing of the play, the group will meet again for a lively feedback and reflection session, to discuss the specific conceptual, design, and performance choices, specifically in BCT’s interpretation of each play. Join us for one or all of these sessions. We have both individual and packaged pricing for these symposium events!

Focus on the Plays of Samuel D. Hunter.
These advanced level acting classes for seasoned, professional actors, will focus on the works of one playwright being presented at Boise Contemporary Theater during the corresponding season. This year, we will dive into the works of Sam Hunter. Participants will be asked to read a play before the start of the first class. Classes 1 and 2 will be a discussion of the playwright, his voice and style, production history, recurring themes, and evolution throughout his career. This common table work will give us a shared language and understanding of the motivations, objectives, and the world of Hunter’s unique characters and stories. Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be dedicated to scene study using scenes from Hunter’s plays. Session 7 will be a showing of those scenes, open to the public and invited guests. In an effort to support our community of working artists, this class will be discounted from its normal $200 fee to $125. Placements are by invitation or audition only and are limited to 10 individuals. To audition, email Education Director Jen Stockwell-Fortner: js@bctheater.org.
