The Christmas Truce of 1914
by Peter Rothstein
Vocal Arrangements by Erick Lichte & Timothy C. Takach
Directed by Tracy Sunderland
Musical Direction by Opera Idaho’s Critical Mass Vocal Artists Director Dr. C. Michael Porter
December 3-20, 2025
Run Time: Approximately 90 minutes with NO intermission
The Western Front, Christmas, 1914. Out of the violence a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into No Man’s Land singing “Stille Nacht.” Thus begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, and peace. A remarkable true story, told in the words and songs of the men who lived it. All Is Calm had a highly successful Off-Broadway run in 2018, for which it won a Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience. BCT is excited to bring this back for one final run this holiday season!
“Could it really have happened like this? If all the troops all along the line had refused to fight, on both sides, would the war have ended there and then?”
