Silent Sky – Bogus Basin Reading

For the first time ever, BCT is partnering with Bogus Basin to bring you a stellar reading about the stars! Join us in the beautiful Bogus Basin Amphitheater for food, drink, history-making women, and infectious humor, all set against Boise’s own glorious mountain backdrop. We are thrilled to offer this unique experience of Lauren Gunderson’s hit play, Silent Sky.

Silent Sky

by Lauren Gunderson

When Henrietta Leavitt begins work at the Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s, she isn’t allowed to touch a telescope or express an original idea. Instead, she joins a group of women “computers,” charting the stars for a renowned astronomer who has no time for the women’s probing theories. As Henrietta, in her free time, attempts to measure the light and distance of stars, she must also take measure of her life on Earth, trying to balance her dedication to science with family obligations and the possibility of love. The true story of 19th-century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt explores a woman’s place in society during a time of immense scientific discoveries. Social progress, like scientific progress, can be hard to see when one is trapped among earthly complications; Henrietta Leavitt and her female peers believe in both, and their dedication changed the way we understand both the heavens and Earth.

Two teenagers will sound their barbaric yawps throughout the course of a life altering evening. Soldiers on opposite sides will sing together, despite the deepest of divisions. A brand new one-woman show will take us through the dark days of chemotherapy, radiation and into the bright white light of transformation. A community will hotly pursue its own sense of the American Dream. And we will, finally, get to witness the show on the roof.

The Persistent Guest and 5X5 Reading Postponed

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will be postponing the production of The Persistent Guest and the January 5X5 Reading of The Agitators to a future date. As Omicron continues to climb, we are keeping the safety and health of our patrons, artists, staff and volunteers as our top priority.

We ask those who have purchased 21/22 Season passes and/or subscriptions to the 5x5 Readings to stand by as we hope to reschedule this event in the spring. Single ticket purchases will also be honored for the rescheduled performance. As we enter another wave of uncertain times, if you are unable to make the performance at a future date and would consider making a tax-deductible donation of your ticket purchase, we would be incredibly grateful. If you have purchased single tickets and would like a refund, please call the box office at 208-331-9224. Other 21/22 Season Shows and 5X5 Readings remain scheduled as planned. We appreciate your understanding and support!
