Spring 2012 Session: April 2 – May 17, 2012
Under the direction of Dwayne Blackaller, Theater Lab invites students from ages twelve to eighteen to audition for our ensemble company. (Don’t worry, the audition will be fun and it’s an important part of the process!) As a part of the company, you’ll share your passion and commitment for theater with other students and our community.
Theater Lab offers three cutting-edge courses for young contemporary theater artists: Classes will be held from April 2 through May 17 as follows:
Course A – INVENT:
A class for aspiring playwrights, storytellers and performing artists. Work as an ensemble to create and perform a new short piece each week, culminating in a site specific public performance of your best work.
The course meets twice a week.
Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30pm
Tuition: $192.00
Course B – EXPLORE:
A class for aspiring actors and movement artists. Learn contemporary acting techniques for voice and movement, including improvisation and an exploration of Viewpoints. Challenge the way you think and move, then perform for a live audience.
The course meets twice a week.
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:30pm
Tuition: $192.00
Course C – INSPIRE:
This is it! A class where we put it all together, and put it under the lights. Working in a professional setting, the ensemble will create an entire play from scratch to perform for the public on the BCT stage.
The course meets five times a week.
Monday THROUGH Friday from 5:30-7:00pm
Tuition: $384.00
Course C will culminate with Evening Performances on May 15, 16, and 17 at 7pm.
Class size will range from five to twelve students. Courses can be taken in any combination, any number of times. It’s always a new story. All courses will be taught by program director, Dwayne Blackaller, at Boise Contemporary Theater.
